Yes, tickets are transferable up to seven days prior to the event. We do require that you email us if you need to transfer a ticket or tickets.
Can you give me more information about the workshops?
How much time have you got? All of our workshops are historically or Outlander based. In fact, we’ve got more workshops than you’ll possibly have time in which to participate. The good thing is that you get to pick and choose which of them are the most important and best suited to you. This way you get to make your own schedule based on your workshop preferences. Most workshops will require an instructor and/or materials fee but there will also be some free workshops offered. A tentative listing of workshops will be posted soon.
Registration for workshops will begin August 21, 2022.
When will the workshops begin?
Workshops will begin as early as 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 20 and will continue on Friday, October 21 and Saturday, October 22. A schedule will be released prior to workshop registration.
Do you have a full itinerary for viewing?
Not entirely. It’s a work in progress but many of the activities, workshops, entertainers, meals and other things have already been decided and confirmed. Please review our full website for what’s been confirmed so far.
Please note that appearances, workshops and the itinerary is subject to change without notice.
When can I arrive and check-in?
Truly as early as you want, depending on your lodging situation. We recommend arriving on Wednesday, October 19, to give yourself time to get settled in before a full three days of fun. Check-in for the Homecoming itself won’t begin until Thursday, October 20, at 9:00 AM.
Do you offer day passes?
No. We like to keep the family feel of the Homecoming. That can only happen when the same folks are together over an extended period of time. Life-long friendships are formed in this type of setting.
Which Outlander Cast Members Will Be Attending?
Check it out HERE. We’re excited!
When will the cast members be available for photos & autographs?
Our special guest will be doing a Q & A plus photo ops and autographs on Saturday, October 21.
What other times will we see the cast members?
In addition to the Q & A and photo/autograph opportunities during the day on Saturday, our special guest will be with us at the “Celebration at Fraser’s Ridge” on Saturday night, October 22. At other times throughout the Homecoming, it will be entirely up to him/her and at their discretion. You never know…you may find yourself sitting next to one of them at a workshop or other activity.
Is parking available at the location of the major activities?
Yes! Parking is available in designated areas.
Are the workshop & entertainment facilities accessible?
A majority of the facilities at Leatherwood are handicap accessible. The exception is the Hendrix Cabin near the entrance to Leatherwood. This cabin is over 200 years old and isn’t rented out for lodging but is used for other purposes. We will be using it a few of the workshops throughout the weekend. If you have accessibility needs, please include that information when purchasing your ticket.
Can I walk to the activities, workshops, meals, etc. from my cabin at Leatherwood?
Probably not. The majority of the cabins are up the mountain. Designated parking will be available for workshops, meals, activities, etc. which will all be down the mountain. You can certainly walk between the different locations down the mountain.
Do I have to stay on site at Leatherwood?
No, but we do highly recommend it!! Cabin sharing at Leatherwood has become a popular option to help defray costs and wonderful friendships have been forged because of it! Leatherwood also offers camping sites! Check the “Lodging” tab in the main menu to see all of the lodging options not just at Leatherwood but elsewhere.
If you must stay elsewhere, please allow extra driving time as travel, especially at night, can be hazardous.
I'm not interested in cabin sharing and would rather have my own cabin. Who do I call?
If you’d like to stay at Leatherwood, you will need to book directly through them. Call 1-800-462-6867 to book. If nothing is available at Leatherwood, check out our lodging information page. .
What's the nearest airport to the Homecoming venue?
Both the Charlotte Douglas International Airport in Charlotte and the Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro are approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes away from Leatherwood Mountains Resort.
Do you provide ground transportation from the airport?
As much as we’d love to spend that time getting to know you, our budget won’t permit us to provide transportation. We suggest renting a car. Besides, you will need it to get around.
Do you provide daily transportation to and from the center of all the activities to lodging?
No. We simply don’t have the resources. You will need to provide your own transportation to and from your lodging. FYI: Uber & Lyft are not viable options in the Carolina backcountry.
Do you provide transportation around the venue?
No. You will need to have your own transportation to and from your cabin to the center of activities, entertainment, meals and workshops. You can plan on driving anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes if you rent a cabin at Leatherwood, which we highly recommend, or if you participate in our cabin sharing program.
How much walking is required at The Homecoming?
That depends on what you want to do and what you sign up for. The center of activities, the buildings and other areas where the workshops, entertainment, meals and other things will take place is somewhat spread out but definitely within a comfortable walking distance from each other.
The scheduled “walks” are, of course, longer and a bit more strenuous. Transportation to the starting point of a couple of the walks will be provided by way of a hayride. Descriptions of each walk will be provided prior to workshop registration and will indicate what level of endurance you might need before signing up.
Is this a kid-friendly event?
We love kids and we are friendly but, this is an adult-only event. Children are welcome to accompany you at your accommodations but we are unable to allow them to accompany you during the various activities, meals, etc. unless there are extenuating circumstances. In the event of an extenuating circumstance, a request must be made to and approval granted by the Homecoming team.
Can I bring my pet?
NO pets are allowed at any of the scheduled workshops, presentations, demonstrations or meals at the Homecoming . Exception: Registered service animals only.
You should check with whomever you have accommodations with regarding pet-friendly spaces.
Do you offer travel insurance?
No, we don’t but we do highly recommend you get your own. Please see our refund and cancellation policy here for more details.
If I have some extra time, where should I visit?
The possibilities are as endless as the views in the Blue Ridge. Check out these websites for local and nearby tourist information:
